Common Questions

Answers to frequently asked questions about this service.

Do I need to fast before an ultrasound?
For an abdominal ultrasound, you generally need to fast for 6 to 8 hours. This allows the gallbladder to expand and reduces bowel gas for clearer imaging. For pregnancy or pelvic scans, fasting is not required, but a full bladder is often necessary.
Is ultrasound safe during pregnancy?
Yes, ultrasound is considered completely safe during pregnancy as it uses sound waves rather than radiation. It has been used for decades with no known harmful effects on the mother or the baby.
What is a Level-2 or Anomaly Scan?
It is a detailed ultrasound performed around 18-22 weeks of pregnancy to check the baby's physical development and rule out structural abnormalities. It is one of the most important scans during pregnancy.
When will I get my sonography report?
At our Ranchi centers, you will receive digital images immediately. The final, detailed report signed by a radiologist is usually available within 2-4 hours.
Do I need a doctor's prescription for an Ultrasound in Ranchi?
Yes, 100%. Under the PCPNDT Act of the Government of India, it is strictly mandatory to present a valid physical Doctor's Prescription along with a Government-approved Photo ID proof (like Aadhar Card) before any ultrasound scan. We cannot perform any sonography scan without these documents under any circumstances.

Expert Sonography & Ultrasound Guide

Sonography, commonly referred to as ultrasound, is a diagnostic medical procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images of organs, tissues, or blood flow inside the body. In Ranchi, our centers utilize the latest ultrasound technology to provide non-invasive diagnostics for a wide range of medical conditions.

Abdominal

Detailed study of Liver, Kidneys, and Pancreas.

Obstetric

Monitoring pregnancy from first to third trimester.

Vascular

Color Doppler for blood flow and artery health.

Why is sonography the preferred choice for many? Firstly, it involves zero ionizing radiation, making it safe for children, adults, and particularly pregnant women. Secondly, it provides real-time imaging, allowing doctors to see the function of organs as they happen—such as the beating heart or the movement of a fetus. For bone-related concerns, a Digital X-Ray is typically the first step.

At MRI Ranchi, we believe quality healthcare should be accessible. We offer transparent pricing structures for all types of scans. Whether you need a simple KUB (Kidney, Ureter, Bladder) scan or a specialized Color Doppler study for your limbs, we ensure you get the best value with highly accurate reports from board-certified radiologists.

Did you know?

A 'Color Doppler' ultrasound can actually 'hear' your blood flow. By utilizing the Doppler effect, radiologists can measure the speed and direction of blood, helping identify potential clots or vascular narrowings without any needles or injections.
